About us

​Superspray is an initiative of three entrepreneurs who accidentally started talking during a business club meeting and came up with the idea. Guus Ploeger from his role as commercial director at a cleaning products production company, Filipe Batáglia with his background in retail and fashion, and Tineke Stel with her experience with strategy, positioning and converting ideas into business.

​Backgroun

​In the professional market, microbiological cleaners are also used alongside traditional chemical cleaning agents. They are available in liquid and spray form and are used in many sectors, including health care, animal care, leisure, automotive, and sports. The positive experiences with this technology go back decades.

With this knowledge and the application possibilities in mind, Guus, Filipe and Tineke came up with the idea to further develop the product in spray form for consumer use. Just like in the professional sector, the goal was to offer a better alternative to chemical cleaning that damages materials, people and the environment.

The Dutch production company that created the liquid was founded in 1948 and was recently sold to a larger Dutch production company that recognises the beauty of microbiology and will continue manufacturing.

The Superspray team’s direct contact with the spore producer, fragrance developer and numerous packaging suppliers ensures a proper overview of the composition and quality of the end product from Dutch soil: Superspray in both spray can and spray bottle.

For now, the focus is on the retail and fashion industry, where Superspray has enormous added value for consumers: sustainability, cost savings and convenience are the top three advantages. It’s also interesting for retailers as it has many branding, cross-selling and customer loyalty options. As for the future, the possibilities are endless.

I’ve been working in the cleaning products industry in many positions for more than 30 years. During my time at Militex, I came into contact with the wonderful world of microbiology. I discovered the cleaning power of bacteria and their unique opportunities for the future: natural and sustainable products made from a renewable raw material. I can’t believe there isn’t more being done.


During a Carbon Network meeting, I met Filipe with his background in retail and fashion. I immediately involved Tineke, who I was already working with because of her entrepreneurship and strategic vision, and the three of us put our heads together. We quickly came up with the idea of introducing microbiology into the consumer market.

A few months later, we were at the notary to register the company. Together with our knowledge and skills, we’re building a company that makes clothes fresher and cleaner in a very nice, easy and environmentally friendly way. Improving the world together is the best thing there is.

My international career in the retail world, including at Suitsupply, has given me many insights. One of those insights is that luxury clothing requires a lot of cleaning. Time and time again, I’ve seen tailor-made suits and delicate fabrics sent to the dry cleaners, with negative results for both the clothes and the environment, as well as costs and hassle for the wearer. A more natural and carefree maintenance would be preferable.

When I met Guus at a business drinks party and we shared our stories, something started to bubble up. We talked about clothing and microbiological cleaning, a combination that offers opportunities for new business and to launch a retail product with excellent added value. Together with Tineke, we developed the plan further and then set up the business.

Together we provide a product that protects luxury clothing and spares the environment. Superspray offers a natural and effective solution for maintaining valuable items without the disadvantages of chemical treatments. It’s a great addition to the retail and fashion industry and other industries.

Filipe Batàglia

During my work as a strategic advisor for the company where Guus was director, I became acquainted with microbiological cleaners. What a discovery! I sprayed my trainers with the first bottle from a production for a hotel industry client, and they smelt fresh again after all these years! Unbelievable. Then I sprayed my entire wardrobe, from jackets worn at a BBQ to party outfits I had danced in; nothing was sent to the cleaners.

Collaborating with Guus and Filipe and the idea of ​developing something was a no-brainer, and it suited my ambition to work with goods in addition to my consultancy work at Presentanza. My previously developed concept for a clothing line had not yet gotten off the ground, so I still had a choice.

It’s great to work with three enterprising individuals with complementary backgrounds on a beautiful natural product that allows people to maintain their clothing more cost-effectively, sustainably and easily, and about which I’m so enthusiastic, based on my passion for fashion. I’m such a clothes horse!

The name Superspray came about naturally. Acquiring the US domain was more difficult, but we succeeded. We’re delighted with Superspray because it fits perfectly.
